Welcoming 2012 (^_^)

It's 1 January 2012. It's my parents' birthday!! Wishing the both you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY & a blessed year ahead!

My smile is their priority.
My day and night are their worries.
My success is their ambition.
My life is their strength. 
Never can I be able to return the same amount of tenderness. I pray to Allah;  

رَّبِّ ٱرۡحَمۡهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرً۬ا

My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little (17:24)

Everyone seems to be into the new year mode so to welcome this 2013, I wish everyone (including myself) all the best in becoming a better person who does more good deeds. And...let the improvement comes sincerely from our heart. It doesn't matter if in the end we can only improve one little aspect of our lives, because that is still an improvement! After all, trying and striving is better than doing nothing and remains in the status quo. Some hearts can drastically change, some hearts need time (2:74). Most importantly, it has got to be sincerely because of Him. As outlined Imam Ghazali, there are 3 stages (or types?my bad!) of sincerity. (Choose from the three, be on the top ladder i.e no. 3 or be all three! =p ) 

1) of a servant - ones who do good or abandon evil to avoid punishment from Allah

2) of a merchant - ones who do good because they want rewards from Allah and Jannah 

3) Mahbub - ones who do good because of their love for Allah

Start somewhere. And we'll get there :)
