Had a chance to attend the 'Divine Speech' - 3 days Quranic Arabic course by Bayyinah Institute last Christmas weekend in London. The course was delivered by Nouman Ali Khan. He's super famous weh! Such a great opportunity giving that he rarely delivers his course outside US. And...we bumped into him when we were having dinner at this one Indian restaurant. When he and his company were about to leave, we (about 10 of us) 'shyly' asked if it's ok to take picture and he replied, "My wife won't be too happy" (something like that). And we were like..."Awww..so sweet.." LOL such a girl!^^

Ok back to business. =P The course was undeniably amazing of course. Giving the political scenarios back home(or in any other parts of the world), I find this one really fascinating. It's truly true, nothing but the truth! In the quran, Allah revealed unfair tactics that people usually use to win an argument: 

1) Using threat of force in debate. Eg [21:68] - Instead of debating about the important issue i.e worshipping other than Allah, force of threat is used i.e the disbelievers put a threat to burn Abraham.

2) Character assassination. Eg [21:36]

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُوٓاْ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذۡڪُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَهُم بِذِڪۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ هُمۡ ڪَـٰفِرُونَ 

And when those who disbelieve behold thee, they but choose thee out for mockery, (saying): Is this he who maketh mention of your gods? And they would deny all mention of the Beneficent (21:36)

 [43:52] - Character assassination made by Pharaoh towards Musa AS.

3) Stirring up emotional crowd. Eg [20:63-64]

4) Making ones feel guilty and question their own modesty or loyalty. Eg [21:52,53]

5) Strategically distracting questions

It sounds very familiar indeed. These are what we will encounter everyday. No choice but to be wise. heh.

There is nothing else other than what Allah has revealed. 


There is no God but Allah. The king of the king. The Haq (the truth of reality) eternaly. Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, true and trusted the promises 


Forgive me Allah. Please accept our repentance. 

We repent to you Allah. We come back to you Allah. We regret for what we have done.

Women of Faith debate

Well it's not really a debate actually but more of a sharing sessions if u like.

Salam wbt,

Have been abandoning this blog for ages. A very bad habit of mine. Ok lupakan.

Well, apparently today is an International Women's Day and the Women's Network, a society under Notts uni student union organised a little forum featuring women from different faiths namely Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Sikh.

The forum started with each panelists giving a brief overview on how their faiths affect them and their daily lives. The first panel is a Christian, and i like how she reverse the question to; How can it (her faith) not affect me. Which i really really agree. Her faith gives her confidence and the contentment in life. She went on saying that she couldn't understand how can some people work their head off just to be rich coz she knows there's more to life than just earning big money. There's a purpose of why we're all here. And in term of confidence, she expressed that as long as she believes that God loves her and wants her to be there (on earth) for a reason..she doesn't have to crack her head off browsing through her wardrobe finding the shortest minis possible to impress others etc. Similarly with the other two panelists from Sikh and Judaism. The Jewish lady covers part of her hair(signs that they're married), and the Sikh lady wears turban. And they promote modest wear as well. And that they don't mind being 'different' from others or not engage in 'clubbing' or the social events alike. It's hard for them as well to say no to their friends but as they said, "I know what I'm doing, coz it(clubbing) doesn't bring me close to God so why should i do it?"

In my head i thought..."WOW, that is soo Islamic.." Of course, there are differences, but why fight over the differences when you can share the common interest?

So, the impression i get from the forum is, all faiths promote good.

How can faith not affect us?Right?This is how i view it;

Purpose of life

As we already know, as Muslim, our purpose of life is for Allah to be pleased with us and bless us with the ultimate aim of Jannah i.e heaven. He will be pleased with us and bless us if we're close to Him by doing good, and prevent evil. Having all the blessings in life like good education, wealth, health, jobs and family are all part of the means to reach the ultimate aim. We do things coz Allah asked us to do so, and we don't do things coz He asked us to avoid them. And that everything in this whole universe comes from Him and is His. We know we go off the track when:

1. We do things to impress and please other people instead of Him.

2. We study solely to get good grades so we can get better jobs

3. We dress to impress rather than to cover ourselves as He asked us to do so.

4. We love our money, our partner and our family more than we love Him and His messenger SAW.

5. We're more worried of other people's perception than whether He's pleased with us or not.

6. We think we're so happy and blissful coz we've got everything in life when we don't know if He'll be pleased enough with us to give that happiness again in the hereafter.

7. We think that we have a high status in the society coz we're more educated and forgetting that we're just His little servant.

8. We're proud of our achievements when it's Him who gives us that.

The list goes on and on..but at least we get the picture and insyaAllah we can relate it to ourselves.

Way of life

Islam, is our Deen. Which means,it is our way of life. So since it's part of us and our way of life, how can we separate our day to day living with our faith. It's all interlinked and connected. We cannot pray 5 times a/day and go clubbing as well. It doesn't seem right, does it? Since we have that purpose of life, so the way we live our lives has got to be towards realising that aim as well, isn't it so?

Natural disposition

Having a faith is all part of our natural instinct or disposition i believe. This reminds me of a friend of mine who said that her friend who's an Atheist also believe in at least 'something' though not God. Coz as a human being, i believe at least somewhere deep down in our heart/at the back of our mind know that we're belong to something 'superior'. We want something/somewhere to turn to, to refer to or to look up for. And that's exactly how Islam nurture us. And i like the close relationships one can have with their creator without any barrier i.e we can directly communicate to Him. We want to cry when we're sad and we want to whine and complain when we're not satisfied. So cry in remembrance of Him and complain to Him as He is the best listener and understands better. If we're stuck between two roads, ask Him the guidance and He'll show us the right path. If we want something very badly, ask Him and He'll grant us our prayers. And not to forget when we're so happy we want to share it with someone, we turn to Him and say Alhamdulillah. =D

No Compulsion

I'm very much against forcing others to do things they don't want to. Because good deeds will only be valuable in the eyes of Allah if we do it sincerely i.e without being forced into it. However, it's not the same as educating others and give good example with the hope of influencing them to do good as well. (And educating is also not the same as 'imposing' yah). This is because to be sincere, one gotta know what and why they're doing certain things. So if we just force others to do things that are alien to them, it is just meaningless to them. However on the other hand, refusing doing good deeds jst coz we're asked to do so by others or coz it's a rule is also not very good i think. Coz sometime, we might not understand why we're doing it initially but as we develop the good habit of doing good deeds, not only the unintentional good deeds are rewarded, but as we grow maturer, hopefully we might pick up some knowledge and began to understand the reasons behind it. (if u get what i mean?) So, know why we do things and also know why we refuse to do things. May Allah guide us along the way insyaAllah.

i am very very very lacking in every way, above is just what i feel and believe.

uhuhh..

and mak2 or ibu2 kita selalu bangun malam..buat semayang hajat utk kita kan..with or without us knowing it..but how often us, the anak2 nie bangun malam n berdoa for our parents?? sense of the give n take..cz they also need our prayers as much as we need theirs kan..hurmm..

same goes to our atok2 or nenek2..or family members lah kn, no matter how much care we show them, like buy this or tht for them..help them with this or that..always be there for them..don't u think it's rather not so worthy for them if we dnt pray for them? bukan ke tu semua very superficial..?coz the true way to show our unconditional love is not only frm wut we do on the outside which will be of no help for them in the hereafter. coz the one yg dpt pahala if we care for them now is none other than kita jugak. but how bout them? lagi2 la kalao yg dah pulang ke Rahmatullah..x kire how close we were with them mase di dunia nie..wut they need most is our prayer jugak in the end..apa guna mase hidupnya mcm belangkas, pemergiannya nanges bagai nk rak pulak tp once they're gone, wut's left is jst some traces of memories. the useless one kat 7 kaki dalam tu.

n i really admire those who care bout others more than they care bout themselves..sifat empathy yg melimpah-ruah skali tuh..
tu the extent, bukn ank sendiri pn..bkn kawan2 mkn maggi semangkuk pn..tp tetap pray for their very best..bila bangun malam pn still pray for the very best for that othr persons.

tahap kemanisan iman tu is when we love our bros n sisters more than we love our own selves. kan? hope i get tht right..

Ya Allah, kuatkanlah semangat jihad umat Islam di Gaza..
Egypt government insists on closing Rafah borders. So now they have no food supply, no medical aid frm outside. Those protesting for Gaza in West Bank were abducted by Israeli forces. Israeli forces are found to use depleted uranium in bombs for their ground offensive. Main hospital in Gaza cud soon be running out of electricity!Water pump are not operating, n they're running out of fuel n cooking gas. Obama still remain silent for he's not yet the official president. Wut, they won't stop unless Hamas stops their rockets? With all these, tell me, how are we supposed to remain calm?

Again, the least we can do...do'a. Besides the doa i posted earlier (refer post on 31st Dec 08), let's also recite the Qunut Nazilah. (Click image for larger view)

Also, let's recite the whole Surah 48, Al-Fath n its meaning for Moslems in Gaza.
Let's help putting this aggression to an end. And save Palestine. Save beloved Al-Aqsa.

Do'a really is our strong weapon that they're lacking. For our brothers n sisters in Gaza, and also for us all(yg nk xm especially)...

"Dan janganlah kamu berhati lemah dalam mengejar musuhmu. Jika kamu menderita kesakitan, maka ketahuilah mereka pun menderita kesakitan sebagaimana kamu rasakan, sedang kamu masih dapat mengharapkan dari Allah apa yang tidak dapat mereka harapkan. Allah Maha mengetahui, Maha bijaksana" Surah An-Nisa, verse 104.

Busy Boycotting? Donating? Signing petition? Doing demonstration? Writing letters to your local MP? Don't forget the hidden forte, do'a..

Habib Ali al-Jufri, a paragon of the Hadhrami from the noble lineage of Rasulullah s.a.w advises the Muslims in general to read the following for the sake of the oppressed Muslims in Gaza (from Al-Qur'an, Surah al-Imran, 173 - 174):

To read once :

Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."

Then to repeat :

(450 times ideally, or at least 70 times, every evening)

Then to finish by reciting once :
And they returned with Grace and bounty from Allah: no harm ever touched them: For they followed the good pleasure of Allah: And Allah is the Lord of bounties unbounded.

Allahumma ameen. Allahumma ameen. Allahumma ameen

6 decades of catastrophe Nakba..do we care?

I went to Palestine Conference held in my uni just now. The talk was great with the astounding speakers like Dr Azim Tamimi and a local MP Ms Bronnes Jenny Tonge. My initial intention going for the talk was to gain more knowledge about the long lasting Palestine issue. Then i began to realize that it's no longer the time to just 'gain knowledge'..it's time for 'action'!Dnt get me wrong, the knowledge about what's really happening there in Palestine, Ghaza, Syrria, Jurusalem and all the other refugee camps around there are crucial to spark awareness.

One of the speakers, Dr Ghada Ageel..a Palestinian who grew up in a refugee camp in Ghaza. The story of her experience is really full of sorrow. The camp is very crowded, without proper clean water supply, and access to proper education. Her grandma now lives only 15mins from her own village in Palestine. Imagine, u can see ur homeland yet u're denied to be there and live there. But even from the very old generation of Palestinian, their hope to be back in their homeland is still high despite of how bad the current situation is. Quoting her dialog with her grandma (80++ yrs old)..:
SHE: You know how America controls the international law, do you? Then why still have high hopes of coming back?
GRANDMA: The one who'll make us return to Palestine is not America, not Israel, not the Jews or whatsoever
SHE: Then?
GRANDMA: But we will return. There'll definitely be an end to this. Last time, the turk in Europe..where are they now?Then the British Mandate, where are they now?So there must be an end to this as well i believe. If not now, tomorrow, or the day after, and if i don't have the chance, you will and if not, your children will..but i believe WE WILL RETURN.

That's how determined they are. It's been 60 yrs, and the Palestinian still hanging on there hoping and fighting with their very best ability for their rights to live, right to education, right to be buried in dignity etc.

Well, it's even stated in the Quran kan that God has promised us Muslims a winning. So, we're already at the winning side. It's just the matter of time and most importantly..how.

Felt so ashamed jst now. Coz at the conference, the British MP came as one of the panels. She actively involved in fighting for the rights for Palestine land. And there's this one lady from Leicester who have actively fought for this issue for over 30years!Imagine. They're not even Muslims..Yet they also understnd the urgent need of putting this racist discrimination into an end. Well that should be the case actually coz this issue is purely a secular colonial mind setting issue initiated by a Frenchman who wasn't even a Jew! (can learn more bout diz if follow the history behind it). But it's more to it for us since it's our Holy land. It's where our first Qiblat was i.e Al-Aqsa. So it makes sense dat we should care more bout it.

The British speaker mainly talked about "Why nothing's done about it" even though this massacre and invasion are totally against international law. Some points she made includes:

1. Due to cultural sentiments.
   
2. Holocaust. If the west fight against what Israel's doing to Palestine, then the the Jews will argue like "Why can't we do it when you already did it to us?"
3. Invasion of Iraq. Again, the world will say, " Why America can invade Iraq and not Israel?" or something like that.
   
4. The strong, mighty and totally legal Pro-Israel lobby. Strongest one is in America which is the America's Pro-Israel Lobby (AIPAC). they do enormous campaign for politician. And politician who goes against them will be dead meat. And in Britain, the Friends of Isreal (FOI) which is considered as the backbone of MP in Britain political world.

Then she moved into "What can WE do about it?"
She stressed the importance of writing letters to local MP, do appointments discussing what the politicians should do about it. (Well, no comment on my part but i do totally agree with her)

Then they're (someone frm FOSIS) planning to set a massive Palestine issue organization to vigorously do campaign, pressurize local MPs etc. So we joined and hope some good news will come out of it. However, in term of boycotting Israeli products, I don't knw how far it will get us to. Seeing the current economy situation, our daily life revolves around their products. So, kena byk tanye pendapat org2 pakar and up to our stand really jugak kot..dnt knw.

Of course for us who're so used to live in cozy lifestyle and being pampered all the time, it's hard to imagine and to put ourselves in their shoes. But try to, coz we have to.

Once a week, we girls in my uni will have a sister circle with Sister Fullah (an Algerian) in the prayer room. It's a sitting discussing Quran interpretation. I can guarantee u'll never get bored listening to her advise n tazkirah...the way she convey it is just sooo attention grabbing.
Here I just wanted to share some of the amazing points she made just now. I elaborate the points myself according to my understanding so do apologize if it's not being put together very well.

The very one point that really awakened me was knowing the fact that this one verse in Quran sounds;
"Ya Aiyuhallazi Na'Amanu Wa'amilu Solihat..."
- O' those who believe, and who do good deeds..

Allah didn't leave the verse hanging only til those who believe but continue with the one who do good deeds as well was mainly because IF WE BELIEF, WE OUGHT TO ALSO DO GOOD DEEDS.

Strong belief alone won't do us any good be it now or in the hereafter..it must be coupled with ACTION which is of course good deeds. If we're a true believer, we definitely will potray it in our action meaning to say, in our daily lives. And all the good deeds we do are for our own good, not anyone else. Well, we do do good for others but wut i meant is wut we give, we get back. Same goes to wrong doing, if we do bad things, we'll get the punishment in return or something unpleasant will come out of it. If it's not now and then, maybe later. Hukum Karma or Law of Nature. No one made that up, it's mentioned in the Quran;

Surah Al-Isra' verse 7;
"Jika kamu berbuat baik bererti kamu berbuat baik untuk dirimu sendiri. Dan jika kamu berbuat jahat, maka (kerugian kejahatan)itu untuk dirimu sendiri...."

So, if we learn Quran, read Quran, and uphold Quran as our main reference, we shall also practise Quran, do as we're told in the Quran. Coz we know the best akhlak is our prophet Muhammad's. And Rasulullah SAW's akhlak is the Quran.

A piece of ayat regarding Quran;
Surah Al-Isra' verse 9;
Sungguh, Al-Quran ini memberi petunjuk kejalan yg lurus dan memberi kabar gembira kpd org mukmin yg mengerjekan kebajikan bahawa mereka akan mendapat pahala yg besar"

BUT, world of course has a lot to offer in term of pleasure..and earth's "colloid osmotic pressure" seems to be so strong it sucked us to live in it's fantasy full of pleasure. Because sometimes, when we're healthy, wealthy, and happy we tend to forget things especially doing good deeds. Fitrah. And more to it, Syaitan.
But shall we not worry at all about it, coz once we're drowned..it doesn't mean we're bound to be drowned for ever..coz door towards taubah is always open so wide welcoming us. Just seek for God's forgiveness..and repent. InsyaAllah we'll be forgiven, coz in Islam there's always a chance..not only second but thousands n even more..providing, we really do feel remorse for the wrong doings we've done.

However must we bear in mind, From Al-Isra' ayat 8;
"Mudah-mudahan Tuhan kamu melimpahkan rahmat kepada kamu, tetapi jika kamu kembali (melakukan kejahatan) nescaya Kami kembali (mengazabmu)...."

And sometime at some point, bad things happen with hikmah. The worse event in our life can turn out to be the turning point for us to be a better person. I remember a saying; "When the world pushes u to the ground, u're in the best position to pray" (sujud)..Given that we have patience. (And of coz, it's not easy) No doubt that's the principle. As mentioned in the Quran;

Surah Al-Baqarah verse 153,
"Wahai org-org yg beriman!Mohonlah pertolongan (kpd Allah) dgn sabar dan solat. Sungguh, Allah beserta dgn org-org yg sabar"

Indeed, Quran got everything we need :)
Quite a few verse frm surah Al-Isra' is becoz today's circle was mainly ofcusing on the interpretation of that surah.
This is for my reminder. Just sharing.
"Sampaikanlah walaupun satu ayat.."

Remembrance of GOD..when?

When do we need to remember Allah?When do we need think of Allah??

When the exam is around the corner?
When the exam result is coming out?
When we want something?
When we're in trouble?
When we're scared?
When we're sad?
When we're ill?

NEITHER of those!!
Even the heart is found to say "Rabb" when beating regularly at 60-100 beats/min!!
So wut excuse do we hav to forget bout the CREATOR of our heart, of our selves..for even jst a second?!

Well,just a reminder..ppl tend 2 forget things..Who?esp the one who they owe the whole universe to..When?esp when they think they've got evrything they wnt when they've actually got nothing but a TEST..Why?Coz of the presence of the no. 1 enemy of course!(u better know who)

that's the tagline for this year's winter retreat in loughborough took place on 17-19 december 07..
was soooo excited and happy gotta meet my kmb frens again there!!thanx 2 the prog,becomes closer with them i think..well the prog was good,full of improtant and useful substance..just that some of the talks r kinda boring..depends on the people giving the talk perhaps..but overall impression,the prog was fab coz it managed to help open up my 'eyes' bout live and life as a real Muslim..

well..m trying my best..May Allah gives His blessings..
