Alhamdulillah back in malaysia for electives aka holiday! =D Actually i have been back for over a month already and praise be to Him i'm loving it and i think i've made up my mind! Fullstop!~

One of the events i recently attended was the Konvensyen Bidadari Dunia. A very successful event indeed mashaAllah! Very inspiring, motivating and infomative! Here's a few pics from the event;

Had a chance to attend the 'Divine Speech' - 3 days Quranic Arabic course by Bayyinah Institute last Christmas weekend in London. The course was delivered by Nouman Ali Khan. He's super famous weh! Such a great opportunity giving that he rarely delivers his course outside US. And...we bumped into him when we were having dinner at this one Indian restaurant. When he and his company were about to leave, we (about 10 of us) 'shyly' asked if it's ok to take picture and he replied, "My wife won't be too happy" (something like that). And we were like..."Awww..so sweet.." LOL such a girl!^^

Ok back to business. =P The course was undeniably amazing of course. Giving the political scenarios back home(or in any other parts of the world), I find this one really fascinating. It's truly true, nothing but the truth! In the quran, Allah revealed unfair tactics that people usually use to win an argument: 

1) Using threat of force in debate. Eg [21:68] - Instead of debating about the important issue i.e worshipping other than Allah, force of threat is used i.e the disbelievers put a threat to burn Abraham.

2) Character assassination. Eg [21:36]

وَإِذَا رَءَاكَ ٱلَّذِينَ ڪَفَرُوٓاْ إِن يَتَّخِذُونَكَ إِلَّا هُزُوًا أَهَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى يَذۡڪُرُ ءَالِهَتَكُمۡ وَهُم بِذِڪۡرِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ هُمۡ ڪَـٰفِرُونَ 

And when those who disbelieve behold thee, they but choose thee out for mockery, (saying): Is this he who maketh mention of your gods? And they would deny all mention of the Beneficent (21:36)

3) Stirring up emotional crowd. Eg [20:63-64]

4) Making ones feel guilty and question their own modesty or loyalty. Eg [21:52,53]

5) Strategically distracting questions

It sounds very familiar indeed. These are what we will encounter everyday. No choice but to be wise. heh.

Hari ini dalam sejarah: 090711! Wonder how will BERSIH 2.0 be depicted in Sejarah text books for the later generation. Anyhow, i jst cnt help but want to make a post bout bersih. Getting its updates online, watching youtube videos and photos from facebook left me in awe and heartbroken as well! Proud of the msian who're not selfish-to think tht they shud jst live quietly, feed and raise their family 'well'. Sad with how the police handled the crowd!

Women of Faith debate

Well it's not really a debate actually but more of a sharing sessions if u like.

Have been abandoning this blog for ages. A very bad habit of mine. Ok lupakan.

Well, apparently today is an International Women's Day and the Women's Network, a society under Notts uni student union organised a little forum featuring women from different faiths namely Christianity, Judaism, Islam and Sikh.

The forum started with each panelists giving a brief overview on how their faiths affect them and their daily lives. The first panel is a Christian, and i like how she reverse the question to; How can it (her faith) not affect me. Which i really really agree. Her faith gives her confidence and the contentment in life. She went on saying that she couldn't understand how can some people work their head off just to be rich coz she knows there's more to life than just earning big money. There's a purpose of why we're all here. And in term of confidence, she expressed that as long as she believes that God loves her and wants her to be there (on earth) for a reason..she doesn't have to crack her head off browsing through her wardrobe finding the shortest minis possible to impress others etc. Similarly with the other two panelists from Sikh and Judaism. The Jewish lady covers part of her hair(signs that they're married), and the Sikh lady wears turban. And they promote modest wear as well. And that they don't mind being 'different' from others or not engage in 'clubbing' or the social events alike. It's hard for them as well to say no to their friends but as they said, "I know what I'm doing, coz it(clubbing) doesn't bring me close to God so why should i do it?"

In my head i thought..."WOW, that is soo Islamic.." Of course, there are differences, but why fight over the differences when you can share the common interest?

So, the impression i get from the forum is, all faiths promote good.

How can faith not affect us?Right?This is how i view it;

Purpose of life

As we already know, as Muslim, our purpose of life is for Allah to be pleased with us and bless us with the ultimate aim of Jannah i.e heaven. He will be pleased with us and bless us if we're close to Him by doing good, and prevent evil. Having all the blessings in life like good education, wealth, health, jobs and family are all part of the means to reach the ultimate aim. We do things coz Allah asked us to do so, and we don't do things coz He asked us to avoid them. And that everything in this whole universe comes from Him and is His. We know we go off the track when:

1. We do things to impress and please other people instead of Him.

2. We study solely to get good grades so we can get better jobs

3. We dress to impress rather than to cover ourselves as He asked us to do so.

4. We love our money, our partner and our family more than we love Him and His messenger SAW.

5. We're more worried of other people's perception than whether He's pleased with us or not.

6. We think we're so happy and blissful coz we've got everything in life when we don't know if He'll be pleased enough with us to give that happiness again in the hereafter.

7. We think that we have a high status in the society coz we're more educated and forgetting that we're just His little servant.

8. We're proud of our achievements when it's Him who gives us that.

The list goes on and on..but at least we get the picture and insyaAllah we can relate it to ourselves.

Way of life

Islam, is our Deen. Which means,it is our way of life. So since it's part of us and our way of life, how can we separate our day to day living with our faith. It's all interlinked and connected. We cannot pray 5 times a/day and go clubbing as well. It doesn't seem right, does it? Since we have that purpose of life, so the way we live our lives has got to be towards realising that aim as well, isn't it so?

Natural disposition

Having a faith is all part of our natural instinct or disposition i believe. This reminds me of a friend of mine who said that her friend who's an Atheist also believe in at least 'something' though not God. Coz as a human being, i believe at least somewhere deep down in our heart/at the back of our mind know that we're belong to something 'superior'. We want something/somewhere to turn to, to refer to or to look up for. And that's exactly how Islam nurture us. And i like the close relationships one can have with their creator without any barrier i.e we can directly communicate to Him. We want to cry when we're sad and we want to whine and complain when we're not satisfied. So cry in remembrance of Him and complain to Him as He is the best listener and understands better. If we're stuck between two roads, ask Him the guidance and He'll show us the right path. If we want something very badly, ask Him and He'll grant us our prayers. And not to forget when we're so happy we want to share it with someone, we turn to Him and say Alhamdulillah. =D

No Compulsion

I'm very much against forcing others to do things they don't want to. Because good deeds will only be valuable in the eyes of Allah if we do it sincerely i.e without being forced into it. However, it's not the same as educating others and give good example with the hope of influencing them to do good as well. (And educating is also not the same as 'imposing' yah). This is because to be sincere, one gotta know what and why they're doing certain things. So if we just force others to do things that are alien to them, it is just meaningless to them. However on the other hand, refusing doing good deeds jst coz we're asked to do so by others or coz it's a rule is also not very good i think. Coz sometime, we might not understand why we're doing it initially but as we develop the good habit of doing good deeds, not only the unintentional good deeds are rewarded, but as we grow maturer, hopefully we might pick up some knowledge and began to understand the reasons behind it. (if u get what i mean?) So, know why we do things and also know why we refuse to do things. May Allah guide us along the way insyaAllah.

i am very very very lacking in every way, above is just what i feel and believe.

hopefully it's still not too late for me to wish everyone Eid Mubarak!

it's my 2nd time celebrating raya in the UK, Alhamdulillah dpt solat aidilfitri di pagi raya, dan mencuti-kan diri drpd hospital for the rest of the day.

Alhamdulillah we managed to hold a grandiose open house this yr on the very first day of raya namely the Open house version 43.36. A great joined effort between the gorgeous of 43 city rd and the jingles of 36 beeston rd. Thanks to everyone for everything. Marvellous foods, happening atmosphere, fantastic crowd..semua cukup!hehe!재미 있어요!

3) DSLR : Bukan sekadar foto - Pendedahan mengenai penggunaan Camera DSLR supaya dapat menghasilkan gambar yang bermutu tinggi dan bukan sekadar foto biasa

1. Had a meeting with IMAC ppl..i salute org2 besar sana yg sanggup turun pandang n aktif with this kind of program mcm their under secretary of state (eg mamanda menteri :p) n even the secretary of state.. they do mobile clinics almost every week k!n we're really grateful for their first class hospitality..kitorg je yg berlemak :p n wut's more interesting, they cn join imac no matter course ape pn diorg amek kt uni..as long as they're a muslim student. bayangkn, on weekdays, they study engineering, agriculture or wutever n in the weekend, they perform circumcision n do dispensary!

2. We got to also visit an orphanage centre tht's fully funded by UAE. We had lunch there, played some games with the children and also did a dental care demonstration. First time buat activity guna translator..susah jugak rupenya..n coz of the language barrier, we didn't get to interact tht much with the kids. Even so, hand signals mmg sgtlah membantu cam "piece", "good", "yay*clap clap*" etc

CRM 2009 presents...

Nottingham's own trio set on a 35km cycling trip to Derby. They have voluntarily come up to the CRM team to help raise enough funds to buy medical supplies and other humanitarian needs of the poor in Cambodia.

As eager as they are to help the cause, we, the CRM team will do our best to visit house-to-house around Nottingham's student housing area to drop a sponsorship form, for each household's convenience. These sponsorship forms (hopefully,together with your contribution) will then be collected in roughly a week's time Insha Allah.

For households that wish to sponsor but the CRM team aren't able to reach due to various unfortunate reasons, please be happy to transfer the money to the account stated in the poster.

nothing in particular sbenarnyer..
jst something i came across with when i was at a Gaza talk organised by nottingham stop war.
actually i was kinda sleepy during the talk coz i ws quite exhausted..yela jst got bck frm Prague then membaking-baking tart 4 cardiff games so the talk pn became so-so jugakla..
but wut fascinates me was the fact tht all sorts of ppl came for the talk. yes all sorts. muslim, of course. n the non-muslims, from old grandma to children. from weird-looking chaps to the hey-im-cool youths. seriously i think it's amazing. we might bump into these kind of ppl who look rather 'weird' or 'scary' to be near with on the street. but hey these ppl might also be the one who have something in common with u..they also CARE. we tend to judge ppl by their looks. but deep in their heart, we dnt know a thing! they cud be much better than those who look proper on the outside but actually ignorance in the inside.
n i cn even hear the granma behind me struggling to breathe properly! n she still come..if we were at tht age, will we still CARE as much as she does??

a busy week ke?

x busy pwn..saje mengade sket..an eventful week is more like it..erm, ive been very lazy to update my blog these days xtau la nape, mayb running out of idea on wut to write already. owh n apart frm that, i hav plenty of courseworks diz sem so between courseworks n blog...i tink something else wins!haha.

jst got bck frm paintballing yesterday, omak aii sakit2 badan den~ n for the first time ever, the team i ws in won the game!haha!p.s; sesape tau mengurut meh2 ler tolong haa..^^

then the night before, our Thai course-mate invited us to a Thai Night event in trent. Lov the atmosphere, the performances and the food too esp Som Tum! **suddenly feels like going to bangkok or phuket for holiday** I jst knew tht they eat sticky rice..so how come the beras siam we hav in msia x sticky pwn?Towards the end of the night, it became a bit draggy already. full, bloated and bored..off we went home.

the night before the thai nyte was IAW grand dinner...the whole IAW this yr was such a great success, job well done isoc ppl!gotta help out with the flyering on my day off. it's very rewarding when ppl spent a few mins of their busy time to listen to wut u has gotta say esp bout ur own religion but when ppl avoid u, giving those ure-annoying-dnt-come-near-me kind of look, yea it kinda upsetting but i enjoyed it tho. we also opened up a booth on the cultural fair day but we ended up selling food instead =) thanks 2 those who helped out!May our good deeds be blessed by Him insyaAllah. we made some new frens too :p it moved the heart u knw to hear how ppl suddenly found out that they're 'lost' in the world greed n how they work so hard to find "the right path" for a peace of mind. and us, how ironic we cn sometime forget the value of this greatest gift of all and take it for granted when the others r working so hard at it.

ok mungkin agak jakon sket but who cares!hehehe...lst yr frost je sikit2 je but this yr..lucky enuf, there's actually flakes falling heavily ok..im lovin it! for othrs this cn be quite a bothersome. some classes got canceled coz their lecturer got stuck in a heavy snow. some schools were closed and some events got canceled. some railway services in englnd got disrupted. and some airport runways were closed due to the bad weather.

but for some of us, we're happily struggling making our way to skul in the midst of the strong wind n heavy snow. enjoy playing snowball, making snowman..playing sledge etc.

anyhow, lucky us we have heaters to keep us warm in our home..and we have the super comfy duvets to sandwich or sushi our selves at nyte..if it's in Gaza...hurmmm..

The "live from GAZA" event just now was splendid and totally unforgettable! Around 300 sisters came..and approx GBP 11,000 was raised on that day alone. Not only we're enlightened by powerful talks from the speakers, but we got to also know lots of new faces. Must say I really enjoyed it.

The event was for female only. Purpose being i suppose was to show how crucial women's role is in giving full support to the resistant. (dat's wut i understnd frm wut Sister Ageel said laa..[pardon me if i got her name wrong]) Cam lagu tu, tgn wanita yg menghayun buaian mampu menggoncang dunia..chewahhh..heh Owh n the event got a live coverage frm Al-Hiwar TV,a station viewed by most of the ppl in Palestine. And u knw wut, the CEO is Dr Azzam Tamimi!=p i jst knew it bebrape minggu yg lalu so dat's y a bit surprised n xcited with no particular reason.

Talks were given by the very well-known speakers in this whole Palestine issues like;
1. Yvonne Ridley - I have always admire her, well at least eversince i knew her frm watching pressTV and that she reverted into Islam soon after she was caught by Ta*lib*an. Her spirit, her will, her words, her courage..Whenever she speaks, it's inspiring, n very influential. We dnt have such influential journalist in msia do we?

2. Dr Jenny Tonge - She's frm House of Lords. Stressing more on the political ways of tackling the issue.

3. Ghada Ageel - She's a Palestinian. Ive listened to her talk b4 during the Palestine Conference not so long ago, but her stories jst now were much2 more heartbreaking..it touched the hearts of hundreds of us. And im quite sure most of the audiences cudn't contain their tears anymore when her voice cracked while telling bout how the ppl frm her village back in Khan Younis in Gaza lost their family members with no mercy to the war criminals we-all-knw-who.

4. Sister Rajnaara - A PHD student, also an activist in human rights. Cudnt really listen to her full talk coz needed to prepare packing the foods.

We also had a live phone call interview with a sister in Gaza. One of the things i remembered she said is something like, "Bout the electricity and heat, we can adapt on that but wut's more important is the seige, the blockade that need to be lifted...yada..yada" In my head i was thinking if it's us, can WE adapt living in darkness n cold?? Wut's
more fascinating bout her is, despite of all the sufferings they've been experiencing frm long ago in Gaza n with 3 kids around..she hold a BA in Econs n currently doing her MA in Accounting..

There're also bazaar selling foods, books, jeweleries and clothings. Gosh we went crazy seeing the scarves. Feel like buying dozens but thinking that "kita x boleh berlebih-lebihan even though it's for a gud cause" kann..lainla kalao kaya raya..heh
